doxiphernalia: doxi-cards!

It’s been about 7 years since I last saw Ozzy and/or been immersed in doxie culture to any degree, but I never remembered there being so many dachshund-related cards on the racks.  New Mama and I were out trolling the clearance rack at the local Walmart when I spied these gems in the card aisle.  I’m sure there were more that I didn’t notice.  Next time....

...because he wanted to get a long, little doggie!

4 out of 5 dachs agree - you look great!

doxiphernalia: office doxie

Bought this magnetic message board almost a year ago and have been waiting for the right moment to hang it up.  Finally got a new (to me) desk at the office and found a place for it, as well as one of the doxie cards.  If the board looks familiar, it's because it matches the cans featured in a previous post.  Still trying to figure out how one would need cans and a message board in the same room...  Eagerly awaiting the next update on Ramsay's status from the folks over at Le Caring's.

more of our favorite 2-weeker

More photos of our little snausage at two weeks-plus of age, courtesy of Le Caring’s AKC Dachshunds.  By dates, Ramsay is about three weeks old now.  We can’t wait to see the next set of pix with his eyes even more fully-open!

doxiphernalia: Happy Hallo-weiner!

Well it’s officially Fall, which means it’s time to change the decor around the house!  I went into our storage area to dig out the Fall stuff, and smiled as I pulled this bad boy out.  We picked him up at our local Cracker Barrel restaurant’s gift shop last year.  His basket is empty - all ready for trick-or-treating!
in case you're wondering (as I did) what they did with his tail

with eyes wide open

At two weeks of age, Ramsay weighs in at 1lb, 2.5oz!!  His eyes are now open, though he still seems to have that newborn glaze that makes them look blue. His nose and claws have now darkened.  The spots on his back are fairly prominent, but we suspect they’ll blend more as he gets older.  We’ve heard that his coat will be more akin to his mother Ruby’s, as she is also a dapple.

doxiphernalia: or is it ‘doxi-FOR-MAIL-YA?’

The dog silhouettes on the cans featured in a previous post were portrayed in a stamp design, which got me wondering how many REAL dachshund-themed stamps existed?  Here’s a small sampling of what I found on animalstamps.com.

doxiphernalia: Slinky Dog revisited

So here he is - a replica of the original Slinky Dog!  First is a pic of the original toy, as produced by James Industries (inventors of the Slinky!!), followed by the re-vamped Disney version that we’ve come to know and love from the “Toy Story” movies.  Faithfully-reproduced is the loop on his chest where the ‘leash’ was originally placed.  Apparently it was later relocated to allow the head to remain upright when the toy was pulled, and the leash wash shortened to reduce the risk of injury to kids.  I think it looks a little strange with the leash coming from between his eyes, but I suppose it DOES make the toy more functional...

pups on film: Ramsay’s debut

Video from the LeCaring’s archive of their most recent puppies (13 pups as of Sept 4th.  FIVE MORE since then!).  Ramsay is about the the 7th one to be introduced, and has some extended facetime at the end of the video as well!  This was taken just days after birth, and it looks like Ramsay and his sister Bonnie are the youngest ones in this bunch.

doxiphernalia: everyone knows it's Slinky

One of our favorite characters from the "Toy Story" movies - Slinky!  Here he is, featured on a pin from Disney World.  We bought this to pin on Ramsay's leash.  There is also an actual Slinky toy, of which I'll post a picture in the near future.

doxiphernalia: home grown

Not a new product by any means, as I have seen the red pepper version on other sites/blogs.  But it IS new to our household.  We are on a quest to purchase the red one.  We found this one at our local Hallmark store.  It's made by Home Grown.  It seems there may also be a banana doxie, so that'll be on the wishlist as well!

4 days old

Here’s a photo of our little snausage recently posted on the LeCaring’s website!  We can’t wait ‘til he opens his eyes.

doxiphernalia: nice cans ya got there....

Our trips to TJ Maxx are always most productive, and the clearance aisle is always abundant with some type of dog-themed item.  We spotted these last year and couldn’t resist!  The doxie looked too cute to pass up.  Plus, Pembroke Welsh Corgis hold a spot on my list of all-time favorite dog breeds - doxies topping the list of course!

In Ramsay news, no new pictures up at LeCaring’s, but we’re sure they’re busy staying caught-up with all the puppies that have been born in the past month!  We’re glad to see that our breeder is getting back into the swing of things after her recent crisis, and wish her well as she resumes ‘business as usual’.

Shout-out to Joey from “The Long and Short of it All” as well, for making it back home.    We wish him a speedy convalescence!

formal introduction...

After much excitement and anticipation, docsdox and NewMama are proud to present - [drum roll] Ramsay!
Ramsay, hours old.

and sister Bonnie - a black & tan smooth dapple.
Much thanks to LeCaring’s AKC Dachshunds for a wonderful experience thus far!  They have been very supportive and patient in addressing all of our nitpicky little questions and concerns.  We can't wait to welcome Ramsay into our home when he reaches 8wks of age!  Photos courtesy of LeCaring's AKC Dachshunds.
