the adventures of ramsay!

OBJECT PERMANENCE:  the concept that people/objects continue to exist despite the fact that they may not be visible.  As med students, we are taught the theory in our classes on child development.  It was interesting to find a subtle reference to the theory by Cesar Millan (I'm a HUGE FAN) in one of his books - in the context of separation anxiety and being able to leave puppies alone without them complaining.

Thankfully, Ramsay's sense of object permanence has developed/matured quite well over the past 3 weeks - to a point where he is content enough to hang out in his bed/crate for at least hour-long intervals, thus allowing NewMama and me to take care of our everyday business - including quiet dinners!  He knows we're around, and that we'll be back before too long.  He still complains a little when he wants to play and we're busy, but we can handle that.  The challenge is continuing to find ways of tricking him into his sense of security when we leave for work.  We're getting there...

he has his rebellious moments, but overall i think we're moving right along. we just have to continue to hunker down and tough it out. keeping fingers crossed.
