Whether on television or in person, we've all seen proof of dogs being afraid of excessively-noisy things - especially vacuum cleaners. My previous doxie, OzzY was no different. The mere sight of a vacuum cleaner sent him into the nearest corner, cowering and shivering in fear. He couldn't even tolerate it being rolled past him!
Enter Ramsay: fearless guardian of our home - probably the bravest, most curious dog that I've ever known. Dogbert actually RUNS TOWARD the vacuum cleaner and/or dust buster when I take it out. "Lemme check that out to make sure it's working, dad", is the look I always get as he sniffs over every inch of the device. The inspection continues even after I turn it on, and it's all I can do to keep the little snausage from becoming one with the dust bunnies in the wind tunnel. Once his quality control eval is complete, Ramsay retreats to the nearest sofa to supervise the remainder of my vacuuming from a higher vantage point - a dox-eye view if you will - and will periodically check back in to ensure HIS mess is getting cleaned up. I have a feeling I'm going to have to tether Ramsay when it's time to fire up the lawn mower!

hee hee, go get it, ramsay! i am curious but mom always shoos me away cuz she knows i would just end up not liking the toesucker!! :)
When my building's hallway is being vacuumed, Jeeves goes ballistic, especially when it gets right outside my door.
But then it goes away and he triumphantly comes back into the living room having saved the condo yet one more time.
OzzY used to bark at the vacuum when i got it out of the closet, but would then bolt once i turned it on. Ramsay sniffs it the ENTIRE time i have my hands on it - regardless of whether or not it's on. thankfully he's smart enough to know when he needs to get out of the way to avoid getting run over, but he does follow the vacuum every once in a while.
